The Museum
The Naturalistic Museum consists of three internal and one external sections.
In the three internal sections you can see:
1) the flora of the Gargano (thanks to luminous panels on the species of the Gargano National Park) and a flat - altimetric model of the Gargano;
2) Gargano archeology, with numerous lithic artefacts dating back to the Paleolithic and Neolithic times found on the Gargano and the reconstructions of flint tools such as axes, picks and prehistoric scrapers;
3) the fauna, with about two hundred animals (mammals and birds) of the Gargano on display.
The external section, on the other hand, is dedicated to the activity of the Gargano woodcutters and charcoal burners. The route includes a visit to the lumberjack's house and observation of everyday tools, a charcoal pit and the tools and working techniques used by charcoal burners and woodcutters to carry out their activities.
Near the museum it is possible to visit a wildlife area that hosts Daunis and Mouflons.
In the Museum it is possible to buy the Umbra trail map and the information material of the Gargano National Park or book a guided tour inside the Umbra Forest. The Museum is open every day (from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 19.00) from Palm Sunday until the 4th of October. In other periods it is possible to visit it by reservation.
